The Hanwha Eagles have won two straight games and swept the top-ranked LG Twins for the second straight day.
Hanwha won 5-3 at home against LG in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League on Wednesday at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. Hanwha, which snapped an eight-game losing streak on February 2, won its second straight game and completed the winning series, improving its season record to 44 wins, 6 losses and 61 draws. LG, on the other hand, dropped its second straight game to fall to 67-2-43.
LG scored first in the top of the first inning. Hong Chang-ki led off against Hanwha starter Moon Dong-joo with a single to center, Kim Hyun-soo singled to right to put runners on first and second, and Moon Bo-kyung singled to bring in Hong to take a 1-0 lead.
However, Hanwha responded with a big inning, scoring five runs in the top of the second. It started with a leadoff single by Kim Tae-yeon. After leading off with a single to right against LG starter Im Chan-kyu, Kim came home on a triple by Choi In-ho. Choi In-ho also took advantage of an error by the first baseman in Jang Jin-hyuk’s at-bat and came home to make it 2-1.
Choi Jae-hoon then laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners on first and second, and Lee Do-yoon doubled to right to bring in Jang Jin-hyeok. Jung Eun-won walked to load the bases, and Lee Jin-young struck out, but Noh Si-hwan hit a two-run double to center field to bring in both runners and extend the lead to 5-1.
After Hanwha rallied, LG answered in the bottom of the inning with back-to-back singles by Hong Chang-ki, Shin Min-jae, and Kim Hyun-soo to cut the deficit to 5-2. Neither team scored again until LG added a run in the bottom of the fifth with a home run. Oh Ji-hwan took a 141 km/h slider from Moon Dong-joo for a solo home run over the right field fence. It was Oh’s fourth home run of the season, and he became the 57th player in KBO history to reach 150 career home runs.
The game ended with a 5-3 score, as neither team scored any more runs. Neither team was able to create much of a chance against the other’s bullpen. LG brought up Ko Woo-seok in the top of the ninth despite trailing by two runs, but he was unable to score against Hanwha closer Park Sang-won in the bottom of the ninth.메이저사이트
Moon Dong-ju, who will finish the season with a 120-inning limit and prepare for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, gave up three runs on 11 hits (one home run) with two walks and two strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Kim Bum-soo (1⅔ innings), Joo Hyun-sang (two innings), and Park Sang-won (one inning) followed with scoreless innings to secure the victory and record the win, hold, and save, respectively.
For LG, after starter Lim Chan-kyu fell to 5 innings, 4 hits, 3 walks, 5 strikeouts, and 5 runs (2 earned), Yoon Hosol, Baek Seung-hyun, Kim Jin-sung, and Ko Woo-seok each pitched 1 inning of scoreless relief, but it was not enough as no additional runs were scored. On the day, LG pounded out 14 hits against the Hanwha mound, more than twice as many as Hanwha (5), but had to hang their heads in defeat.
