CJ wins KB Financial Live Championship club ranking, ‘wins season 2’
CJ Golf (Kim Min-kyu, Bae Yong-jun, Lee Jae-kyung, Chung Chan-min, Choi Seung-bin and Kim Min-hwi) topped the KPGA Tour’s KB Financial Live Championship team standings.
With all six players making the cut, including Bae Yong-jun in a tie for fourth and Kim Min-kyu in a tie for sixth, CJ Golf Team earned 126.33 tournament points to finish 25.5 points clear of second-placed Woori Financial Group (100.83 points) and claim its second win of the season. CJ had previously climbed to the top of the KPGA Tour’s club rankings following a strong performance at the Woori Financial Championship, which concluded on 14 May, with Lim Sung-jae winning the tournament.
Woori Financial Group, which was at the top of the club rankings in the last tournament (SK Telecom Open), failed to achieve three wins for the season with two consecutive victories. Woori Financial Group’s golf team (Lee Soo-min, Hwang Jung-gon, Lee Jun-seok, Cho Min-kyu, Yoon Sung-ho, and Park Jun-hong) did their part with Lee Soo-min and Hwang Jung-gon tied for 10th place, but they struggled to close the gap on CJ.먹튀검증
With CJ’s second win of the season, the race for the club ranking title is set to heat up. In the Korean Professional Golf Club Ranking Men’s Division, Woori Financial Group and CJ have both secured two wins this season, while DB Insurance and NH Bank have one win each.
Third place went to DB Insurance Golf Team (Lee Tae-hoon, Seo Yoseop, Moon Do-yeop, Jang Hee-min). With all four players making the cut, including Lee Tae-hoon in a tie for 10th place, DB Insurance earned 100.50 team ranking points.
Fourth place went to the NH Bank Golf Team (Moon Moon-jun, Kim Dong-min, Choi Ho-young), which included reigning champion Kim Dong-min. Kim Dong-min’s emotional maiden victory four years after his debut earned NHB 87.33 team ranking points.
Fifth place went to team Sokchoi Golf (Kim Jun-sung, Lee Jung-hwan, Kim Hak-hyung), which was founded this season. Led by Lee Jung-hwan’s second place finish in the tournament, the team accumulated 85.67 team ranking points, the best result of the season and a place in the ‘Top 5’ in the inaugural tournament. Previously, the team’s best result of the season was a sixth place finish at the 42nd GS Caltex Mae Kyung Open, which concluded on 7 May.
Independent Lee Seung-taek tied for second and Jeon Ga-ram tied for eighth… ‘Free agent surge’
The performance of independent players who do not have main sponsor contracts also stood out. FA player Lee Seung-taek, who competed as an independent, finished tied for second place with a final total of 6-under-par 282, while Jeon Gar-ram finished tied for eighth with a final total of 3-under-par.
As the performance of the independent players attracted attention, attention will also be paid to the options of golf organisations such as Welcome Savings Bank and KPMG, whose members have not been performing up to expectations, to bolster their strength. Wellcome Savings Bank has missed the cut in three consecutive tournaments from the Woori Financial Championship to this event, while KPMG has struggled to make the weekend cut.
In the 144-player tournament, a total of 50 organisations sent players, with 19 sending two or more players. Forty-eight players were unsigned.
