‘Former first-round pick’ Fultz reflects on his time in Philly: “If the club had been more patient with me…”

Markelle Fultz (193 cm, G) has been a highly touted prospect since his collegiate days due to his scoring and passing ability. He was even selected in the first round of the 2017-2018 NBA Draft. He made his debut with the Philadelphia 76ers.메이저놀이터

At the time, Philadelphia wanted him to help Ben Simmons (206 cm, G) and Joel Embiid (213 cm, C) make Philadelphia one of the best teams in the league. However, Philadelphia’s hopes were not fulfilled.

After a highly anticipated debut, injuries slowed Fultz down. In his rookie season, a shoulder injury limited him to 14 games, and in his sophomore season, the injury limited him to 19 games. In the aftermath of the shoulder injury, Perz’s shooting went silent and his shooting percentage was abysmal. In his two seasons in Philadelphia, Perlz played in 33 games, averaging 7.7 points, 3.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds on 26 per cent shooting from three-point range and 53 per cent from the free throw line.

Fultz’s struggles prompted Philadelphia to trade him to the Orlando Magic, and Fultz rebounded with the Magic. It wasn’t a dramatic rebound, but he averaged 12.1 points and 5.1 assists in 72 games.

Although he didn’t play much in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons due to injury, he played in 60 games this season, averaging 14 points and 5.7 assists. He has since established himself as a mainstay in Orlando.

Recently, Fultz sat down with The Tribune to reflect on his time in Philadelphia. “I wish they would have waited on my injury. “I wish they would have waited a little longer, because I’m a player who can help them win,” he said.

“But on the other hand, I’m really grateful for the support and help I’ve received from the Philadelphia club. They did everything for me. They just needed a quick result,” he added.

Meanwhile, Fultz is out of contract with Orlando after the upcoming 2023-2024 season. It will be interesting to see if he can raise his stock next season with a healthier body and if he can live up to Orlando’s expectations and earn an extension.
