“Hwang Hee-chan to leave Wolves over FFP issue. EPL-Serie A interest”
‘Bull’ Hwang Hee-chan (27, Wolverhampton) could leave this summer due to the club’s financial issues.
Leeds local newspaper ‘MOTriznews’ reported on the move on Thursday (July 24), citing a recent report by ‘The Sun’s’ Alan Nixon.
According to Nixon, Hwang could leave Wolverhampton this summer. With the club facing Financial Fair Play (FFP) issues, they could sell him to balance the books.메이저사이트
The Leeds local newspaper was interested in the Hwang transfer rumors because Leeds United made a move for him last summer. At the time, Nixon was the first to report the move.
If Hwang were to leave Wolverhampton, he could be linked to Leeds again. However, according to Nixon, Leeds’ interest in Hwang has cooled.
He cited Hwang’s recent struggles at Wolverhampton and the fact that Leeds wouldn’t want him to play in the second tier if they were relegated. Leeds are in 19th place in the relegation zone with 31 points after 37 rounds. They have a goal difference of two points from 17th-place Everton (33), who are in the relegation zone. They will look to pull off a last-minute upset in their final home game against Tottenham.
Although the outlet didn’t mention it in its article, the departure of former manager Jesse March from Leeds during the season is also believed to be one of the reasons why Leeds’ interest in Hwang Hee-chan has cooled. March and Hwang worked together as manager and player at Salzburg.
Hwang went on loan to Wolverhampton from Leipzig for the 2021-2022 season, triggering a full transfer in 2022. His contract runs until the summer of 2026. After a series of injuries at the start of the season, he returned to form with his fourth goal of the season (and third in the league) against Everton on April 21.
Wolverhampton, meanwhile, has had FFP issues since 2020, the year after the Chinese giant’s capital infusion. On April 24, the BBC reported that head coach Julen Lopetegui is contemplating his future following comments from the club’s hierarchy that it is “difficult to invest next season”. Currently, main players such as Leo Neves, João Moutinho, and Adama Traore are expected to leave the team, but it is difficult to recruit additional players. Even Hwang Hee-chan has been linked with a move away. After a series of twists and turns, Wolverhampton’s future is up in the air.
