According to the legal community on the 27th, Chief Judge Lee Won-joong of the 19th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Mr. A, who was charged with violating the Act on Prohibition of Improper Solicitation and Graft, to 6 months in prison and 2 years probation.

Mr. A argued that the money and valuables in question did not violate social norms such as ceremonial congratulations and condolences or customs, nor were they intended for personal gain, and thus did not constitute a crime.

However, Mr. B stated in court that his son was a high pitcher, so he had to meet the 30 inning rule to go to a university in Seoul, and he gave money in the name of meeting the rule.

The judge said, “Mr. A, as a high school baseball team manager and student educator, requires fairness and integrity in performing duties such as selecting players and granting opportunities to participate, but he has received money and other valuables several times from the parents of baseball team players, and the scale is not small.” explained.
