“I will embrace my players with the heart of a mother,” says coach Lee Im-sun after returning to Samsung Life Insurance
Coach Im is back with the team.
Samsung Life coach Yong Yong Im is one of the most recognizable faces of Samsung Life. She played exclusively for Samsung Life from the 1997-1998 season to the 2015-2016 season. After his retirement, he continued his association with Samsung Life. He joined the team as a coach and stayed with them until the 2021-2022 season.안전놀이터
However, we didn’t see her last season because she was on maternity leave, but this off-season, she rejoined the team to add energy.
“I’ve actually been gone for a season, but there’s nothing awkward about it. The coach and the players are all the same. (Laughs.) They’re all working as if they were there yesterday. So I think I’ll be able to adapt faster,” he said.
“I think you have to experience it to understand it. Now that I have a child, I know what it’s like to be a mom. Now I want to give that to the athletes. (Laughs) I will warm them up with my mom’s heart. That’s my biggest advantage,” she added.
Even though she was on maternity leave, the coach didn’t let go of her basketball. “I was at home last season, but I studied a lot. I watched games and studied the players’ strengths and weaknesses, what worked and what didn’t. I also watched a lot of other teams’ games. I wanted to come back and be a part of the team, and it was a lot of fun for me personally to do that,” he says, adding that he loves the game of basketball.
“I’m very happy to be back, and I was looking forward to it even before I joined the team. It’s so much fun to be able to interact with the players and be a part of it, and I missed them so much last season. I went to see them play in the playoffs, and I met (Bae) Hye-yoon at the time, and she looked so tired. On the one hand, I felt bad that I couldn’t be there to help, so I wanted to come back as soon as possible and be a support.”
While there was joy and anticipation, there was also worry. One of them was childcare. “To be honest, I was also worried about my home. My child needs his mom to take care of him. I can’t wait to get home from work and see my child. (Laughs) Now I understand how working moms feel,” he said.
The coach also talked about Kang Yoo-rim (175 cm, F), who won the Skill Development Award last season, saying, “She’s really grown a lot. I was surprised because she’s always been a hard worker, so I had some expectations. But when Kiana came in, she came with more opportunities and she capitalized on them. I think she grew because she made sure we had synergy, and that gave her confidence. I want to help her grow even more this time.”
Finally, the coach said, “I now realize the value of my work. I enjoy spending time with the players. I realized that I am happy when I am on the field, and I will continue to think about how I can help them grow faster. That’s my role,” he concluded.
