KT had 3 chances to win the game…but remained silent and didn’t deserve it
KT Wiz’s winning streak came to a halt at ‘4’, but KT deserved to make it five in a row. It was a lack of focus that held the Wizards back.메이저사이트
KT lost 1-4 on the road against the KIA Tigers in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field on April 24. Their season record is now 30 wins, 2 draws, and 35 losses (0.462).
On the day, KT had only three chances to reach base against the KIA mound, including the top of the first inning. They could have scored a lot of runs and taken a clear lead.
However, the flow was off from the start. After back-to-back singles by Kim Sang-soo and Hwang Jae-gyun and a walk by Anthony Alford loaded the bases in the first inning, KT ended the inning scoreless on a strikeout by Park Byung-ho and a groundout by Jang Jang-woo.
The top of the fourth inning was no different. KT pressured KIA starter Yang Hyun-jong with a single by Park Byung-ho and a walk by Jang Jang-woo, and after Moon Sang-chul struck out, Bae Jae-dae’s infield single loaded the bases.
But once again, with all the bases loaded, no one came through. Oh Yoon-seok struck out on a four-pitch battle to end the inning.
Later in the game, KT had another chance to capitalize. Trailing 1-3 in the top of the eighth, KT pushed the KIA bullpen hard with a leadoff double by Park Byung-ho and a walk by Jang Sung-woo.
After Moon Sang-chul walked, Jeong Byeong-dae walked to load the bases, but Jung Jun-young, who came to bat in place of Lee Sang-ho, hit a single to end the threat.
The gap between the two teams only widened. In the bottom of the eighth inning, a wild pitch by Jeon Won-joo brought home Kim Do-young from third base, making it a three-run game and tipping the scales in favor of KIA.
KT continued to struggle throughout the game, as the team left a whopping 12 base runners on base. In the top of the sixth inning, with runners on second and third, second baseman Moon Sang-cheol, who was rushing home when Ahn Chi-young hit a single to right, was ruled out after a video review, and KT manager Lee Kang-cheol, who couldn’t understand why the call was overturned, was ejected. In many ways, it was the toughest day ever for KT.
