Spurs sign promising center back first…signing Phillips to a five-year deal in 2005

Tottenham Hotspur have secured a promising center back.

Tottenham announced the signing of Blackburn Rovers defender Ashley Phillips on a five-year contract via their official website on Friday. The transfer fee is £2 million, according to European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano.

Phillips joined Blackburn in 2017 and came through the club’s youth system. He began training with the first team more frequently in the 2021-2022 season and made his first-team debut in August 2022 against Hartlepool United in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. At the time, he was 17 years and 45 days old, making him the fourth youngest first-team player in Blackburn’s history.

Tottenham needed to strengthen their defense this summer. They conceded 63 goals in 38 games last season, ranking 15th in the English Premier League (EPL) in fewest goals allowed. With no reliable center backs outside of Christian Romero, many expected them to bring in at least two, but they filled one spot with a prospect.메이저사이트

Phillips is a young, unproven prospect in the EPL, so it’s possible Tottenham could add two more in the future. For starters, one is coming soon. They are close to completing a €50 million deal for Wolfsburg’s young center back Micky Vander Penn. Reports suggest that he will undergo a medical this weekend, local time, and a signing will be announced early next week.
